Love Houston

Serve Houston

Anyone can say they love the city, but love without sacrifice is empty sentimentality. Real love means commitment, surrender, and service. Here are some of the ways we love Houston at The Story. If you would like to sign up for any Mission and Outreach opportunities, please visit this link:

Rescue Houston

Rescue Houston is a Christ-centered care and recovery center for underage female victims of domestic child sex trafficking. It is the first long-term, comprehensive care facility in Texas for underage victims of domestic child sex trafficking and is one of only five such facilities in the United States. Their mission is to offer a successful path to freedom for American children who have suffered as victims of commercial sexual exploitation.

All donations made to our Coffee Bar on Sunday mornings are donated to the work that Rescue Houston is doing in Houston.

Jubilee Prison Ministry

Jubilee is a Texas-based ministry designed to engage incarcerated men and women in a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ. In addition to financial support, people from The Story are beginning to participate in Jubilee Weekends at area prisons.

This ministry focuses resources on inmates who are scheduled to be released within five years, and we want to help resource them with the relationships, faith community, counseling, social connections, and job training they will need to transition well.

Covenant House Texas

Covenant House is a shelter in the Montrose area for at risk and homeless youth ages 18-21. They offer homeless and runaway youth a safe place to stay while also reintegrating them into society through job search assistance, budgeting and nutritional classes, as well as nightly devotionals and worship. On the 3rd Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 7:30 we send one of our Chapter groups to host worship and devotionals with the residents. We also support Covenant House Texas by donating all proceeds from The Nest Bookstore that is open on Sunday mornings in our lobby.

Church Under The Bridge

Serving those in need doesn’t always mean giving money or clothing. More often than not, those struggling just want to feel loved. It’s not until we really open our eyes and see the struggles of those less fortunate that we realize how much they need the love of Christ. In 2017, we are continuing our partnership with Church Under the Bridge, an organization fighting homelessness both in our city and abroad. On the 3rd Wednesday of every month, we will gather at 2800 St. Charles Street to serve food, lead worship, and most importantly share the love of Christ.
