The Story’s mission is to inspire non-religious Houstonians to follow Jesus. We are a church that is all about Jesus. Not a religion or denomination, or any political party. Just Jesus. He never told anyone to be more religious; he told them stories. Hundreds of stories that ignited a movement and changed the world.
The Story Houston launched five years ago in a small gymnasium and has grown into an active community of over one thousand Houstonians, with a second campus opening in 2020. The Story also engages thousands of people around the world through digital content, including weekly sermons on iTunes and YouTube, the Maybe God Podcast and original music by the Story Worship band.
The Story Houston is searching for a part-time Video & Podcast Production Associate to help the Media Director run all media operations supporting of the organization’s key initiatives. This role has the potential to grow into a full-time position.
Responsibilities for this position include:
Conceptualize, film and edit creative videos during the week – including announcement videos, testimonies and other creative content – for Sunday services, special events and social media campaigns.
Manage the media booth every Sunday morning, which entails:
Understanding the AV technology in our worship space and making sure all equipment is operating properly; troubleshooting on the spot as needed.
Managing and troubleshooting the live feed of the Lead Pastor’s sermon to The Story’s second campus.
Managing the live broadcast of the 11:05 service to our website, YouTube and Facebook; working alongside the Video Director to maintain the quality of the broadcast.
Managing a team of volunteers that operates slides and cameras.
Edit and publish Sunday’s sermon on all digital platforms; edit sermon clips with captions.
Maintain all equipment during the week; stay on top of upgrades and repairs needed to all systems, from projection to camera system.
Input slides for projection in worship space on Sundays.
Update all television graphics for broadcast of service on live platforms.
Help with technical production of the Maybe God podcast during the week; setup studio and maintain all audio equipment.
Qualifications for this position include:
Degree in Film/Television Production or Digital Media Production and/or 3+ years equivalent experience.
Experience filming and editing videos on a tight deadline; must be able to provide samples of previous work.
Must be aware of ever-changing world of video production and pay attention to work of leading churches and creative agencies.
Strong experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Premiere Pro, Audition and AfterEffects.
Ability to manage multiple projects at once while meeting deadlines.
Great people skills; ability to collaborate with volunteers and key leaders of the organization.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy and problem-solving skills.
Ability to find concise ways to tell a story and/or give out information.
Must be in agreement with and committed to upholding The Story’s Statement of Faith, as well as its stated Mission and Vision.
15-20 hours per week with potential for FT position; Sundays required
