We gather every Sunday morning at 8:30, 9:40, and 11:05, and every Sunday evening at 5p.  Our new building is on the St. Luke’s Methodist campus (3471 Westheimer). Every service is about an hour long and includes music (a blend of modern instruments and ancient hymns), a thought-provoking, encouraging sermon, and Holy Communion. Dress is casual, music is modern and occasionally loud, and the coffee is always hot.

Children – even noisy ones – are always welcome in worship at The Story, but we also have nurseries available for kids 4 and under for all services. During the 9:40 service, TSH kids (2 and over) may attend St. Luke’s Methodist Sunday School. During the 11:05a and 5p service, The Story offers Children’s Church for children 5 and up.

Unassuming. Honest. Approachable. Compelling. That's the kind of culture we're working to create at The Story Houston, and we'd love for you to join us.

Eric Huffman. Pastor

What’s a Sunday service like?

No strobe lights or laser shows, and very few (if any) church announcements at The Story. We keep things simple, fun, and approachable. Our services usually include 15-20 minutes of music and about 30-35 minutes of teaching. We get straight to the point, and most of our services last about an hour.

With our sermons, we start with a question people are asking in the real world, questions like:

  • Where does the Bible come from and can it be trusted?
  • How are we supposed to understand the problematic and disturbing parts of the Bible?
  • Does everything happen for a reason?
  • Are faith and science at war?
  • What does the Bible say about addiction? Depression? Mental illness?
  • Is Jesus really the only way to heaven?

Then, with all the honesty, integrity, and good humor we can muster, we dive into these questions in search of biblical, practical answers for everyday life.

What types of people go to The Story Houston?

Students and teachers, newborns and retirees, oil execs and temp workers, singles, marrieds, and single-agains, Republicans and Democrats, life-long Christians and skeptical agnostics, people who like Ninfa’s and those who swear by Pappasito’s, Aggies and Longhorns, Cougars and Bears. We’re diverse and different, but Jesus brings us together as one.

What kind of dress is expected?

Some people wear jeans and a t-shirt. Some wear slacks and a tie. It’s really up to you.

What About Kids?

Children – even noisy ones – are always welcome in worship at The Story, but we also have nurseries available for kids 4 and under for all services. During our three services, we have three unique opportunities for kids to learn while having the best time:

8:30a service: Nursery is open for kids age 0-4!

9:40a service: TSH kids (5 and over) may attend St. Luke’s Methodist Sunday School.

11:05a service: The Story offers Children’s Church for the kiddos.

5:00p service: there’s a Kids’ Zone available for children’s activities in the room adjacent to The Story’s worship room.
