Jesus is Better: A Letter to the Houstonians
October 8, 2017 / Geovanna Huffman
In the early church, an unknown follower of Jesus had an important reminder for Jewish Christians- Jesus is better. In the 1st century, just years after Jesus’ death and resurrection, Jewish Christians were still having a hard time believing that Jesus’ sacrifice was actually sufficient and even better than the perfect Law (Psalm 19:7) given to Moses by God.
The problem we face as 21st century Houstonians isn’t that different from the one faced by the original recipients of Hebrews: is Jesus truly better than anything else life has to offer? Is Jesus better than money? Acclaim? College football?
