At The Story, we believe everyone has a part to play.

God has equipped each one of us with a special gift and purpose to serve His body. So no matter what life stage you’re in or where you are in your faith journey, there’s a place for you to belong and serve.

Sunday Teams

Hospitality

Our Hospitality Team is the first group of people guests interact with at The Story. Members of this team welcome people at the front doors, give directions and answer questions at the Connect Table, pass out study guides as people enter the sanctuary, and help prepare and serve communion alongside our pastoral team. This is our largest team and new volunteers are always welcome!

Coffee Bar

Our volunteer baristas keep our coffee bars stocked with hot coffee and fresh donuts every Sunday. They arrive before services to refill carafes with fresh coffee using our state-of-the-art equipment and stick around to answer any questions people have.

Kids & Student Teachers

Help share the Gospel with the next generation! Classroom teachers lead different age groups through appropriate Jesus-centered lessons and activities, using Story-provided resources such as crafts, videos, and more. This is a great way for parents to serve with their family! For the safety of our children, a background check is required for this team.

Parking Team

Volunteers on this team don safety vests and help visitors have a seamless experience as they arrive at The Story! On this team, you’ll help people navigate the one lane aisles to find an open spot, help give directions on where to enter, and be the first friendly face people see on their visit.

Worship & Musicians

If you know how to play an instrument or love singing, our Worship Team is the perfect fit! Every week The Story’s bands lead us through a time of worship, incorporating both traditional and contemporary worship music. Band members rotate within a schedule so you can participate as frequently as you’d like, or also serve on other teams during the time between your worship team bookings. Auditions are held seasonally for our worship band.

Media Production

Our Media Production crew makes all of our worship services run smoothly. You don’t have to be tech savvy to learn how to run slides or a livestream camera - we provide all the training you’ll need! If you’ve ever wanted to take a peek behind the scenes of our worship services or know more about what a live production looks and feels like, this is the team for you.

Serve on Sunday Teams

Prayer & Care Team

Prayer Team

Team members commit to praying daily for prayer requests submitted during weekly worship or through The Story’s website. They also send notes to those they are praying for. Each team member is scheduled to serve one week every six weeks.

Care Team

Team members receive training on basics of prayer and care ministries and can serve through: hospital and nursing home visitations, meal trains for families or individuals who are in need, or connecting with new/expecting moms to offer care and support.

Strategic Partnerships

GO Ministries partners with local leaders across the Dominican Republic who desire to redeem people, renew their communities and restore creation by forming dynamic mutually transformational partnerships. GO empowers leaders primarily through church planting, nutrition centers, medical clinics, sports outreach, primary schools, ongoing training, water purification projects, and kingdom businesses. Contact us to learn more about taking your small group or family to the DR, or stay in the loop for upcoming summer trips to join.

Houston Welcomes Refugees helps ease the resettlement process for refugees coming to Houston by mobilizing invested, caring volunteers and fostering hope amidst crisis. They accomplish this through donation drives of household necessities, putting together teams to help refugees set up and move into their new homes, and creating small groups that commit to a six-month journey of welcoming the refugees as they arrive and adjust to their new lives.

Jubilee Prison Ministry takes the Gospel to prisoners behind bars in nearly a dozen locations across Texas. They regularly host volunteer-run “Jubilee Weekends” where members can spend a weekend inside the prisons worshiping, eating, growing, and praying together with prisoners or serve outside on support teams by preparing meals, resources, and praying over the entire group. At every Jubilee Weekend, we aim to talk less, listen more, and love always. If there’s one thing we’ve heard again and again, it’s that everyone – prisons and volunteers alike – leave absolutely changed.

LifeHouse of Houston is a Christ-centered ministry ensuring life for unborn children by providing opportunities for housing, help and hope for young women during their pregnancies and beyond. LifeHouse seeks to reach women with the life-changing power of the gospel of Jesus. Most women find LifeHouse at their point of greatest desperation. Pregnant, homeless, lacking any family or support system, they enter the doors of LifeHouse to meet Jesus with skin on.
