Historically, it's one of the most controversial books in the Bible. In the years following Jesus' life on earth, a man who had publicly rejected Jesus' ministry became a Christian and wrote a letter to other first-century believers. Three things make his letter remarkable: first, that man, James, was the son of Joseph and Mary and Jesus' little brother. Second, after publicly criticizing Jesus during his life, James proclaimed faith in his big brother after Jesus' death. Third, James' letter - and its place in the New Testament - has been hotly debated by Christian leaders for centuries.
